My dps and front cover write up

Before I started adding sell lines and my masthead I edited my things on my model. I felt that my model looked far too tanned therefore I changed the RBG curve to make her skin tone lighter. I also have used the dodge and burn tool to highlight and darken certain parts of my models skin, highlights in her hair were also created with the dodge tool. However, i am still not happy with the skin colour of my model as it is not even and doesn't look very glamourous. Due to not being able to take many steps backward I was unable to change this. To make the models eye colour and lips a more vivid I used the colour swap tool resulting in her lips becoming very red and her eyes a lot more green. Her teeth were also whitened using the dodge tool. For my models skin I removed and blemishes and freckles by using the heal brush tool. For my sell lines and masthead I downloaded fonts and imported them onto my computer, I particularly picked curvy feminine text to imitate the style of my style model (cosmopolitan). I added margins to my front cover in order to be able to know where to place the text in order for it took look professional. I inserted a button to my front cover to promote '500 designs' for the magazine by using the ellipses tool which I filled with colour and lowered the opacity to create a slight transparent effect. For the main sell line e.g 'what do you see?' I used the bevel and emboss effect once I selected a back drop colour and edited the depth and darken elements resulting In the transparent background colour.

For my leading page I have used a picture of my model screaming. I added various effects to my model such as the removal of blemishes/freckles (healing brush tool) and whitening of teeth and highlight of hair (dodge tool). Too create the smashed mirror effect I downloaded a stock image of a smashed mirror. To put this over my model I dragged and dropped the image over her. To make the model visable once the black image was imported over, I selected blend and selected the screen mode. To make the smashed mirror appear over the models face I flipped the image horizontal. Once this was done, the models face wasn't fully visible through the crack therefore I used the polygonal lasso tool and carefully selected the area I wanted to delete. After, to make the the cracked glass look more realistic I selected bevel and emboss and selected the chisel hard technique. Finally I bumped up the depth resulting in the image I have now. I originally wanted to create a curved header for my leading page in indesign where the text would be presented over the model. However, I felt like it would have looked too much with the smashed mirror effect as well so presented the text as I have above. Although I have learnt how to create curved text due to practicing the effect often. I used the pen tool to create the path lines for the curve effect, then I used the covert direct point tool to make the path curvy instead of pointy. Finally I selected the type on a path tool to create text.

For my 3 images on the left hand side of article alot of photoshop editing has been involved. For the green image not so much has been done as I wanted the audience to realise that this was the 'realistic' self image. For the amber and red image I have liquified the model to present her as bigger than she is. For the colours of each photograph I have changed the Red and green curve of the image to represent the traffic light system I was going for. To get the background of a mirror frame I found the image of a mirror and set it as a background for my picture in photoshop. In indesign, to insert my article I used the rectangle frame tool and clicked file place to insert the article. To spread my article over each 3 columns i clicked the red box area where part of the article was missing and dragged the rest of the article where the frame tools were. To make the quote inserts I selected the the rectangle frame tool once again and changed the text wrapping to in the middle so the text when around it. To add the column lines i selected the line tool and moved it down the column to change the type of line I changed the stroke  to dotted and changed the colour. I added a drop cap to my articles first letter and also in my drop out box first letter. To make my drop out box I selected the rectangle tool and filled it with colour, also i changed the edges of the drop out box to curved. For my image above this I edited it in photoshop to get a 'scatter' effect. I did this by first of all selecting my image of choice and duplicating the background layer twice. I used the lasso tool in layer 1 to delete the model from the layer, then I used the quick selection tool in layer 2 and pressed ctrl J. Once this was done, I then liquified the second layer to guide where the scattered effect was going to go. I then created a layer mask for each layer one being black and one white. I then downloaded various brushes, at first i was downloaded brushes that looked like a smashed mirror effect, however I decided not to use these as I thought it would be too much as I had used a smashed mirror effect previously. I selected a brush of my choice and used the black brush on the white back ground, going over the areas of the model which I wanted to be splattered. Once this was done I went to the other layer with the black layer mask and changed my brush colour to white. In the background using this brush the liquified part of my model was revealed creating the above splatter effect. However, I am not happy with the end result as I feel that the effect is not as vivid as it should be. Once the picture was inserted into indesign I added a drop cap and drop shadow. then rotating the image.
